The vertical fryer-steamer of the ZCL series is the main equipment for the preliminary preparation of oilseed raw materials in vegetable oil mills. It can be used as equipment for conditioning oilseed raw materials by heating and adding water to soften the raw material, which ensures the quality of the subsequent flattening operation and avoids the material sticking to the rollers or crushing the raw material into powder during flattening.

The flakes must also be roasted and steamed in this equipment to control the temperature and humidity to meet the technological requirements of the oil extraction process. The ZCL series vertical fryer-steamer consists of a boiler body, a humidifying device, a mixing device, a material layer control device, an exhaust device, a gearbox and other components.
1. The boiler body is the main unit of the fryer-steamer. The design of each boiler tier is basically the same and includes a side steam jacket, a bottom steam jacket (both are steam jackets), a discharge port, a steam outlet and an inspection hatch. The lower tier of the boiler does not have a discharge opening, but is equipped with an adjustable outlet gate.
2. Humidifying device: This machine uses nozzles to spray water or steam to moisten the flakes. On the upper tier of the boiler there is a pipe for spraying water, on the lower side of which, facing the bottom of the boiler, there are numerous holes with a diameter of 2–3 mm. Or, a steam spray pipe is installed under the upper tier scraper, rotating with the scraper, which allows water or steam to be evenly distributed over the flakes. The valve regulates the spray intensity to achieve the required degree of moistening of the flakes and provide a deep steaming effect.
3. Mixing device: for uniform frying and steaming of flakes, each tier of the boiler is equipped with mixing scrapers. The scraper is a narrow elongated steel plate welded to a square scraper holder, which is attached to the main shaft using a key and bolts and rotates with it. The scrapers are installed at a certain angle to the bottom of the boiler, usually 30°, which ensures complete turning of the flakes. In addition, the scrapers in each tier of the boiler are installed in a staggered pattern, with a uniform angular displacement, which avoids load concentration.
4. Automatic gate: The automatic gate is used to regulate the amount of material in the boiler and is capable of automatically changing the flow depending on the level of material in the boiler. When there is little material in the boiler, the gate automatically opens, increasing the flow. When there is too much material, the gate automatically closes or closes completely, reducing or stopping the flow. Thanks to the opening and closing of the automatic gate, the height of the material layer in the boiler is automatically maintained at a given level. The automatic gate has an arc-shaped steel plate called the locking plate and another arc-shaped steel plate at the bottom called the support plate. Using a flange, they are adjusted and fixed, which allows you to adjust the height of the material layer in the boiler. The locking plate and the support plate maintain a certain relative position, are installed through a bushing on the indicator axis and are attached to the bottom of the upper tier of the boiler, which provides flexibility for turning the gate. When the support plate is pointing vertically downwards, the gate is fully open, the flakes are continuously poured out of the feeding hole, the amount of material gradually increases, the material layer is constantly rising; at this moment, the layer of material picks up the support plate, causing the pointer axis to rotate clockwise, which leads to the gradual closing of the discharge hole by the locking plate. When the layer of material reaches a predetermined height, the support plate is raised to a certain position, the locking plate completely blocks the discharge hole, and the feed stops. In addition, in accordance with technological requirements, it is possible to adjust the relative position of the support and locking plates by changing the height of the material layer in the boiler. A material layer indicator is installed on the brazier, rotating along with the indicator axis and showing the level of the material layer in the boiler.
5. Driving device: The machine is equipped with a bottom drive, consisting of an electric motor, a clutch and a reducer. The electric motor drives the gearbox through an elastic coupling; after changing the direction and reducing the speed in the gearbox, rotation through a rigid coupling is transmitted to the main shaft of the fryer-steamer. The main shaft rotates the mixing scrapers, which turn the flakes, ensuring they are evenly heated.
6. Exhaust device: each tier of the boiler body is equipped with steam outlets connected to exhaust pipes. Water vapor released during roasting and steaming of flakes is removed through exhaust pipes outside the workshop, maintaining the cleanliness of the production area.
